If you have ever seen parks and recreation I am sure you are already aware of Galentine’s Day but for those of you out of the loop, I will fill you in.
- 13 February, the day before Valentine’s Day when it is traditional to celebrate the people you love other than your significant other, your best friends, your best Judies, your ride or dies, your lady loves, your hype ladies.
I am especially fond of Galentine’s Day, how often do we get to sit back with our best friends and just celebrate each other and the love we have. As I get older it is harder and harder to stay in contact with friends so Galentine’s Day has become a special day for everyone involved.
To celebrate Galentine’s Day you need a few simple supplies:
Pink Glitter and Sparkles
This is obviously a pretty important requirement, nothing says let’s celebrate our shinning sisters like a little bit of glitter. Depending on your party theme mini love heart confetti and roses will also elevate a plain table setting.
Adding plenty of fresh flowers to your event will create an air of luxury and depending on the flowers will also smell fantastic. If you don’t have the budget to buy bunches of flowers just ask your guests to bring a small hand-picked bouquet with them to add to the decor.
Whether it be champagne, wine, mimosa’s, sangria or vodka make sure there is plenty of alcohol. I would suggest spoiling yourselves with a bottle of something a bit special, the bigger the bottle, the better.
You will need some food to help soak up all that alcohol so decide when the event will be held to help narrow down the food choices, I would suggest taking a leaf out of Leslie Knope’s book and settling for a brunch option.
Galentine’s Day isn’t complete without a ridiculous amount of chocolate consumption so make sure there is plenty of chocolate treats to be passed around and enjoyed!
Remember calories don’t count on Galentine’s Day!
Here’s to hoping that you can create a fun get together with your best friends and set out a time each year to really cheer each other on and celebrate each other’s achievements. Galentine’s Day is all about empowering women to live their best lives and have a little fun along the way.
