October Self Love Challenge

Happy Monday lovely,

I had such a wonderful weekend, this lovely spring weather is really starting to heat up which has really put a spring in my step. I love waking up Monday morning feeling rested and rejuvenated really for another week at work, knowing I can accomplish any catastrophe that comes my way.

It wasn’t that long ago that I would wake up Monday morning with a feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach, not because I didn’t think that I could handle work, it was just that I couldn’t handle myself.

“What you tell yourself every day will either lift you UP or tear you Down”

It can be quite distressing when you think about how we treat ourselves, you would never walk up to someone you just met and tell them how flabby their stomach looks or point out their imperfections.

Yet so often one of the first things I found myself doing every morning was getting up looking in the mirror and saying nothing but negativity.

How is it possible to enjoy each day and live life to the fullest if you cannot stand in front of a mirror naked without wincing or bombarding yourself with negative thoughts.

“Self worth is so vital to your happiness, if you don’t feel good about YOU, its hard to feel good about anything else.”

I always had it in my head that happiness and self love was only possible once I achieved a certain milestone, I had a misconception that happiness required me to be in a certain place and stage in my life and if I didn’t achieve this then I would never know happiness.

I dived in head first to reach these self love and happiness “goals” with reckless abandonment and when I completed a goal I was always so confused as to why there was no rainbows, sunshine, puppies, kittens and final self acceptance, I felt numb and disappointed.

When I didn’t complete a goal I went from numb and disappointed to devastated and guilt ridden, I became almost robotic as I set myself on flight mode each day so I didn’t have to deal with my self loathing thoughts.

“You have to love yourself because no amount of love from others is sufficient to fill the yearning that your soul requires from you.”

Then all of a sudden one day it clicked with me, there is no quick fix or goal or substitute for loving yourself. I started small with smiles and daily affirmations in front of the mirror, it was amazing how quickly and with minimal effort I began to accept myself for who I am and how I look and after that everything seemed to fall into place.

knowing yourself

It really is true that you need to learn to love and appreciate yourself before you can really start to enjoy life but once you have there is no going back.

I have created a instagram self love challenge for October because you all know I love a instagram challenge and hopefully this gets my wonderful followers talking about the importance of self love and acceptance.

To join in the challenge just upload a image that has something to do with that days challenge topic to instagram and use the hashtag #OctoberSelfLoveChallenge so I we can connect.

Well I hope that you are all enjoying your Monday and practicing some self acceptance, have a wonderful rest of the week.

What do you think of my challenge?
Will you join in?
